Baseball pitchers are practising to improve balls speed, trajectory and spin rate. A Taiwan-based company offer to track all these measures using a smart baseball called Strike. The smart ball has the same weight, same center of gravity and surface texture as regular besbal.
Inside it contains a shockproof unit, that has a combination of gyroscopes, accelerometers, a Bluetooth module, wirelessly charged battery with 12 hours of use. Those electronics record the speed, trajectory and spin, along with the ball’s axis of rotation. That data is transmitted to the accompanied app to display and stats are stored in the cloud for user to compare its progress.
The Strike is currently the subject of a Kickstarter campaign and if everything goes to plan an estimated delivery is on July of 2017. The demonstration is on the video below.
